We are re-thinking the social media constructs of following, comment threads, algorithms, community guidelines, etc… and building with intention (hint: ads don’t make the cut). We are also re-thinking monetization to give our community a first-of-its-kind micro-monetization method. This is focused on 500M+ market to give people a slice of the internet to express themselves without the noise. We are pre-seed funded by an amazing set of angels, who are leaders and execs in marketing, tech, legal, finance, and venture capital.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented engineer to take on the CTO position. You will be hands-on in the first 6-9 months to help the team with development, but will also be in charge of technical design, and growing and managing the engineering team. Our frontend iOS app is written in React Native and the backend code is written in Go and hosted in Google Cloud. This person will also have latitude to make strategic tooling changes to make sure we can scale using the best tools and coding languages.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of technical stack and technical roadmap
• Work with the current team of engineers, the founder, designer, and marketer to execute on an expanding platform (web is next) and going deeper to get our platform ready for scale
• Building boundary-pushing functionality (highly personalized algorithms, creator monetization models, decentralized community ownership structures) that will both transform the user experience and protect the user
• Contribute to technical best practices and building an exceptional engineering culture

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a software engineer and a proven track record of deploying early-stage products and growing engineering teams
• Sufficient working knowledge of either ReactNative or Go
• You've worked effectively in a small and tight-knit team - you're comfortable with ambiguity, but you've seen what a support structure looks like (e.g. design documents, CI/CD, etc) and you want to help build it
• Ability to communicate effectively, build strong interpersonal relationships, and write clear documentation
• Able to work remotely anywhere within the U.S.
